According to David Ornstein, Liverpool are not considering Xabi Alonso for their head coach role and fully expect Arne Slot to remain in charge next season.

Liverpool are instead planning to back Slot in the transfer market this summer, with a focus on strengthening in wide attacking positions.

It is understood the club are targeting one or two new wingers, believing that improving those areas will be key to the team’s development under Slot.

Club officials feel that once reinforcements are added, it will provide a fairer basis to assess the manager’s work going forward.

Liverpool are expected to be active in the transfer window as they look to reshape parts of the squad ahead of the new season.
