THE TELEGRAPH REPORTS UP TO NINE LIVERPOOL PLAYERS COULD LEAVE THIS SUMMER

The Telegraph has reported that up to nine Liverpool players could leave as a result of a summer clear-out at the club.

It’s starting to look like it could another busy Liverpool summer transfer window with plenty of squad changes, at least according to the Telegraph.

Arne Slot has already hinted that plenty of players could be sold, saying after the Champions League exit at the hands of PSG:

“Much has been said that the club is in a transition. The club has sold eight or 10 players to make money to sign five or so very talented players. We have to sell to buy.

“We are losing some players on a free transfer. It is a big challenge in the summer but the club has shown this model works. As I said many times the future looks very good, especially if we can sign players after good players leaving this summer.”

The two confirmed departures need little introduction. Mohamed Salah will leave Anfield at the end of this season after nine years, as will Andy Robertson when his contract expires.

However, the Telegraph have reported that plenty more players could depart.

Rhys Williams and Calvin Ramsay will depart. Williams, whose contract expires this summer, has not played a competitive minute for the Liverpool first team since the 2020/21 season and will leave on a permanent basis.

Ramsay’s story is one of injury frustration – the Scottish right-back arrived from Aberdeen for £4.2m in 2022 but has never established himself, and despite remaining at the club this season to rebuild fitness after loan spells, a permanent exit looks inevitable.

Beyond those four, there is a longer list of players whose futures are uncertain.

Joe Gomez, out of contract in 2027, is attracting interest from AC Milan. Federico Chiesa, who never convinced under the Dutchman after arriving from Juventus, is expected to head back to Italy.

Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott, loaned to Aston Villa last summer in a deal that included a £35m obligation-to-buy clause triggered by 10 Premier League appearances, has featured in just four top-flight games – meaning Villa are under no obligation to make it permanent, leaving his future unresolved.

Curtis Jones enters next season in the final year of his contract, and with Inter Milan and Tottenham both interested, Liverpool face a decision on whether to cash in or lose him for nothing in 2027.

Finally, Alexis Mac Allister is also one to watch with his contract expiring in 2027 and no deal being discussed coupled with his drop-off this season on the pitch.

It adds up to a window that will reshape the squad significantly — and Arne Slot will need most of the business done right to retain his standing at the club.
