Former Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has named the best player he played alongside during his time at the club. That player became a fan favourite over eight years at Anfield, wearing the No. 9 shirt and standing out not only for his goals, but also for his intelligence, tireless work rate, and selfless role in Jurgen Klopp’s system. Speaking to Peter Crouch, Thiago admitted he was “in love” with Roberto Firmino’s style of play, highlighting the Brazilian’s unique ability to put the team above everything else. “Bobby Firmino, I was in love with that player.“He puts his talent into the service of the team. And he was so good on the ball, he was quick, he was strong, he was a great goalscorer. I would say him,” Thiago said. Thiago and Firmino played together 58 times before the forward left Liverpool in 2023, but that was enough for the Spaniard to fully appreciate what made him so important. Between 2015 and 2023, Firmino made 362 appearances and scored 111 goals, playing a key role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s modern history. During that time, Liverpool won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
