BREAKING: Liverpool vs Brighton Match Faces Potential Postponement as Storm Boelo Threatens Anfield

Liverpool’s Premier League encounter with Brighton has come under uncertainty following severe weather warnings issued by the UK Met Office ahead of Sunday’s fixture at Anfield.

The Reds were scheduled to host Brighton on Sunday, October 25, but concerns grew over whether the game could safely take place as Storm Boelo brought powerful winds and heavy rainfall to parts of the United Kingdom.

The Met Office issued weather warnings across Merseyside, forecasting wind gusts of around 55–65 mph in several areas. More exposed coastal locations could experience even stronger gusts reaching 70–80 mph.

The storm has already forced the cancellation of several outdoor events, increasing concerns about travel disruption and public safety throughout the region.

MATCHDAY SAFETY BECOMES A MAJOR CONCERN

Although no official postponement had initially been announced, the safety of supporters travelling to Anfield was expected to be a key factor in deciding whether the match could proceed as scheduled.

Representatives from Liverpool and Brighton, alongside Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council, were expected to assess the potential dangers before a final decision was reached.

The strong winds could bring down debris and disrupt road and railway services, creating difficulties for fans travelling to the stadium, particularly those coming from outside the local area.

Liverpool supporters may remember the Merseyside derby against Everton in December 2024, which was postponed shortly before kick-off because of dangerous conditions caused by Storm Darragh.

That incident highlighted how extreme weather can force football authorities to prioritise public safety over completing a scheduled fixture.

For now, supporters have been advised to look out for further announcements while officials assess the weather conditions and any potential risks surrounding the stadium.

WILL LIVERPOOL VS BRIGHTON BE POSTPONED?

At the time the initial reports emerged, Liverpool’s meeting with Brighton remained on the schedule, with no official postponement confirmed.

However, concerns surrounding the storm meant that the authorities needed to consider whether conditions around Anfield and the routes used by travelling supporters were safe enough for the game to go ahead.

The final decision was expected to depend on safety assessments, with the protection of players, supporters, stadium staff and everyone involved in organising the match remaining the main priority.

Liverpool and Brighton fans were therefore encouraged to follow official club announcements for the latest information about the fixture.
