Man City Found Guilty on ‘Virtually All’ Premier League Financial Charges

Manchester City have been found guilty of virtually all charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations, according to David Ornstein.

The process of Manchester City’s potential charges has been ongoing for a significant period, and it appears we are now finally reaching closer to a conclusion.

Manchester City were hit with 115 different charges following an investigation into alleged breaches between 2009 and 2018.

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters has recently admitted that the process had taken longer than expected, but it was the only available route to allow the process to take its course.

There are a number of different punishments that City could face, including points deductions, being stripped of titles, expulsion from the Premier League, and fines, but that is all unclear at the moment.

According to Ornstein, Manchester City have been found guilty on nearly all of the charges relating to breaches of the Premier League’s financial regulations. Manchester City are expected to appeal against the verdict issued by the independent commission, and the sanctions have not been decided as yet.

Ornstein claims that City have now been found guilty of all but one of the 115 charges, with the Premier League process still ongoing.

Significant elements are still to be completed, and their position remains consistent with their previous statement back in February 2023, which shows how long the process has been ongoing.

“The club has diligently respected due process for eight years on the basis the Premier League board and executive would behave as an independent, impartial and fair minded regulator, free from partisan influence.”

With Manchester City set to appeal the decision from the independent commission, we could still be waiting a while to discover the actual punishment.

It’s certainly not good news for Manchester City, especially when you consider the number of charges they’ve been found guilty of.

There is then every chance that Manchester City will appeal the punishment given, so it’s certainly not a process that you’d imagine will end any time soon.

The Premier League process remains ongoing, so it remains to be seen where this one could end up.
