Liverpool Reportedly Restart Contract Talks With Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool have reportedly reopened contract negotiations with Alexis Mac Allister as the club looks to secure the midfielder’s long-term future at Anfield.

According to transfer source Indy Kaila, the Reds have restarted discussions with the Argentina international over a potential extension to his current contract, which is due to run until June 2028.

Mac Allister’s future had become a major talking point after Liverpool initially decided against offering him a new deal. Reports of interest from major European clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester City, added further attention to the situation.

However, the latest development suggests Liverpool’s position may have changed, with the club now reportedly prepared to revisit negotiations with the 27-year-old World Cup winner.

Mac Allister Admitted He Was “Very, Very Sad”

The reported return to negotiations comes after Mac Allister publicly revealed his disappointment over Liverpool’s initial decision not to offer him a new contract.

The midfielder explained that he was particularly hurt after seeing teammates Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai receive new deals while his own situation remained unresolved.

Mac Allister nevertheless made it clear that his commitment to Liverpool had not changed.

“As everyone knows, I received the news that the club was not in a position to offer me a new contract, which makes me very, very sad. The fans don’t need to worry because I will give my 100 per cent until the last day I’m here.”

His performances since then have backed up that promise.

Mac Allister Making His Case On The Pitch

The Argentina international has enjoyed an impressive spell of form, producing several important performances across different competitions.

Mac Allister found the net against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League before also scoring against Tottenham in the League Cup.

His technical ability, tactical intelligence, work rate and influence from midfield have once again demonstrated why he remains an important part of Liverpool’s squad.

That resurgence could now be playing a role in the club’s reported decision to reopen contract discussions.

Liverpool Keen To Resolve His Future?

Mac Allister still has two years remaining on his current Liverpool contract, meaning the club is not under immediate pressure to secure an extension.

Nevertheless, restarting negotiations could allow Liverpool to remove some of the uncertainty surrounding his long-term future.

With interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs previously reported, a new agreement would provide Liverpool with greater security while rewarding a player who has continued to perform despite the earlier disappointment.

For Mac Allister, the latest development represents a significant change from the situation earlier in the season.

He publicly promised to give everything for Liverpool regardless of the contract situation, and his recent performances have only strengthened his position in the ongoing debate over his future at Anfield.
