Arne Slot’s son Joep was spotted liking an Instagram post linking the Liverpool boss with a shock departure to join another European side this summer.

Just one year after leading Liverpool to the 2024/25 Premier League title, Slot’s future at Anfield is facing major uncertainty.

Following a devastating 3-2 loss to historic rivals Manchester United, the Dutchman has now led the Reds to 19 losses in all competitions this season, the joint most defeats in a season this century.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that there has been calls from within the Liverpool fanbase for Slot to be sacked over the summer, with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Luis Enrique tipped to be his replacement.

However, various reports from sources close to the club have suggested that there are currently no plans for Liverpool to part ways with Slot in the immediate future, with club officials eager to stick with him for at least the start of the 2026/27 season.

But, new reports have suggested Slot could take things into his own hands as he has been linked with a move back to the Netherlands to coach Dutch giants Ajax, a rumour spurred on by the fact that Slot’s son liked a social media post reporting on the news.

The report comes from De Telegraaf‘s Mike Verweij, who explained the news on the Kick-Off podcast.

“I keep hearing that they also inquired about Arne Slot,” Verweij said.

Although Ajax are reported to have inquired about a surprise appointment of Slot, Verweij added that neither Liverpool or Slot were considering the move at this time.

He claimed: “But yeah, Slot is still very firmly in the saddle. He is just going to continue at Liverpool.

“And I also understood that Arne Slot wasn’t very keen to go to Ajax at this point in his career.”

The report was shared on Instagram by fan account Liverpool Goals, and fans quickly noticed that Slot’s son, Joep, had liked the post.

Although Joep liking the post doesn’t necessarily confirm that the report is true, it certainly shows that the Liverpool boss and his family are well aware of the discourse surrounding his future.

And the fact that Joep later removed his like from the post might suggest that his dad had a stern word with his son after noticing his social media activity fuelling the rumours even further.
