Arne Slot Told To Sell ‘Disgraceful’ Player’ Who Was ‘Awful’ in Loss vs Man Utd

In what is almost always a highly entertaining game, Manchester Unitedhosted Liverpool in the Premier League. Living up to expectations, there was plenty of drama as the Red Devils came away with all three points. 

The home team came into the match three points and one place above Arne Slot’s side, as they each look to secure a place in next year’s Champions League. They walked away in an even greater position, as Michael Carrick’s team have all but secured a spot inside the top three now.

The game was not without controversy, though. After Matheus Cunha’s deflected effort opened the scoring, Benjamin Sekso then doubled the lead shortly afterwards. His effort was allowed to stand by VAR, despite some images suggesting the ball hit his hand.

The second half saw Amad Diallo come on at the break and immediately make an error. His loose pass was brilliantly pounced upon by Dominik Szoboszlai, as the Hungarian made it 2-1. Another big mistake, this time from Senne Lammens, then allowed Cody Gakpo to level the scores in the 55th minute.

Kobbie Mainoo then stepped up with a fine finish, making it 3-2 as Man Utd reclaimed the lead with about 13 minutes left on the clock. This was enough to seal the win.

Key Liverpool Player Struggles at Old Trafford

It was a difficult game for essentially every Liverpool player, but one man in particular struggled to deliver. With Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak out injured, Slot admittedly didn’t have too many options in attack. That said, many would have been disappointed to see young Rio Ngumoha left on the bench.

Instead, Cody Gakpo led the line, with Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong on the flanks. Most notably, the latter failed to impress. He was hooked in the 75th minute with a dismal 5.9 SofaScore rating, the joint-worst of any player, with Ngumoha taking his place. 

Frimpong finished the match having lost the ball eight times, with three unsuccessful touches. He also failed to win any tackles, make any clearances, or blocks. He won just two out of 10 attempted dules, and was dribbled past once. Add to that the two fouls he gave away, and zero shots at goal, and it’s fair to say he failed to make a positive impact at either end of the pitch. 

Ngumoha also showed more attacking threat in his cameo, nearly finding the bottom corner with a smart dribble and shot as Liverpool chased an equaliser in the final 10 minutes.

Fans were not at all happy with the Dutchman’s efforts. At half-time, one wanted him out of the club immediately, saying: “Frimpong should be sold at half time, he gives us nothing.”

Others felt similarly, with one supporter writing: “Frimpong needs to be sold in the summer and I’m not kidding. Just get rid.” Another added: “Frimpong should be sold let this guy play in a formation that suits him. He isn’t built for this.”

As the game went on, the criticism did not ease up. One wrote: “Frimpong is genuinely awful. Looks like a 9-year-old out on that pitch.” Another added: “Frimpong is a disgrace.”

A final fan summed up the mood with: “Frimpong, this has been a disgraceful performance, wow.”
