NFL legend Tom Brady has officially finalized his deal to become a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, marking a major step in his post-playing career. After months of regulatory review and negotiations, the league has approved the former quarterback’s minority ownership stake, solidifying his role as both an NFL icon and now, a team executive.
Brady, a seven-time Super Bowl champion and widely considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in league history, has been expanding his business portfolio since retiring (for the second time) in early 2023. His deal with the Raiders, initially agreed upon in principle back in May 2023, had been pending approval from NFL owners, who must sign off on all ownership transactions involving teams.
With this agreement finalized, Brady joins the Raiders’ ownership group led by Mark Davis, who also owns the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces—another team Brady has invested in. The specific terms of Brady’s stake have not been publicly disclosed, but reports suggest it is a minority share with no direct involvement in day-to-day football operations or player personnel decisions.
This deal does, however, raise intriguing questions about Brady’s future involvement in the NFL. As a part-owner, Brady would be restricted from returning to the field as a player. NFL rules prohibit active players from holding equity in teams, effectively closing the door on any further comeback speculation.
Brady’s transition into ownership is part of a broader trend among elite athletes investing in sports franchises. It also represents a strategic move by the Raiders, who benefit from Brady’s star power, media presence, and long-standing relationship with Davis.
In addition to his investment in the Raiders and Aces, Brady continues to expand his business ventures through TB12 Sports, his Brady Brand apparel line, and his media production company, 199 Productions. He is also set to begin his role as a lead NFL analyst for FOX Sports in the upcoming season, as part of a 10-year, $375 million broadcasting deal.
As Brady moves into this new phase of his career, his influence on the game appears far from over—just now from the boardroom instead of the huddle.
