Coco Gauff Launches New Everyday Sneaker for 21st Birthday—with Help from Her Grandma
Coco Gauff celebrated her 21st birthday this week not just with a possible champagne toast but also with the launch of her latest signature sneaker with New Balance.
During the BNP Paribas Open, Gauff hinted at a surprise, telling Tennis Channel hosts to “keep your eyes out” for something new. That surprise turned out to be the Coco Delray, which was officially released on her birthday.
The Coco Delray is similar in style to her high-performance Coco CG2, inspired by vintage basketball and tennis shoes. However, this new sneaker is designed for casual wear and everyday play. It’s a low-top model, built for all skill levels and different playing surfaces, from local parks to competitive matches.
At launch, the Coco Delray comes in two colors—white with navy and off-white (called “Parchment”) with aqua and navy accents. The shoe reflects Gauff’s goal of making tennis more inclusive by providing high-quality footwear for everyone.
To introduce the sneaker, New Balance created a special campaign narrated by Gauff’s grandmother, Yvonne Lee Odom. Odom was the first Black student to attend public school in Gauff’s hometown, Delray Beach. The ad features clips of Gauff at different points in her life, highlighting her journey in tennis.
“Tennis isn’t just a game,” Odom says in the ad. “It’s a lot like life. You’re never really alone … it’s always part of something bigger.”
Gauff agrees, saying that the Coco Delray is “more than just a shoe.”
“It represents an opportunity to give more people access to tennis and will have a lasting impact for future generations,” she said. “Delray Beach helped start my tennis journey, so it’s special to share the story of my community and why I love this sport.”
Throughout 2025, the Coco Delray will be released in the same colors as the CG2s. The sneaker is available for $110 on New Balance’s website and at tennis retailers.
