Red Bull seemed to take a playful jab at Lewis Hamilton after he criticized Max Verstappen’s radio talks with his race engineer.
After Hamilton’s comments, Red Bull shared photos of Verstappen and his engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, celebrating together. Hamilton had said Verstappen often speaks harshly to his engineer during their radio chats, while defending his own talk with Ferrari engineer Riccardo Adami at the Australian Grand Prix.
The 2025 Formula One season started in Melbourne last week. McLaren’s Lando Norris won the race, with Verstappen coming in second. Hamilton finished 10th in his first race with Ferrari, and fans noticed some tense radio communications between him and his engineer. At one point, Hamilton asked to be left alone, which drew criticism from fans. This was different from his successful 12-season partnership with his previous Mercedes engineer, Peter Bonnington.
When asked about the incident in China, Hamilton said, “Everyone made it a bigger deal than it was. It was just a back-and-forth. I was polite and simply said, ‘Leave it to me, please.’ I wasn’t swearing or being rude.”
He also mentioned Verstappen’s radio talks, saying, “Max has had some rough conversations with his engineer over the years, but no one talks about that.”
Red Bull quickly responded to Hamilton’s comments by posting pictures of Verstappen and Lambiase celebrating their success. The timing seemed like a response to show their strong partnership, despite their occasional heated radio exchanges.
Fans noticed the response right away, with one commenting, “Red Bull knows exactly what they’re doing after Lewis Hamilton’s comment!”
Red Bull team principal Christian Horner once described Verstappen and Lambiase’s relationship as like an “old married couple” — they may argue sometimes, but they have a strong bond that has led to four straight Drivers’ Championship titles. Despite the tense radio moments, their partnership continues to thrive.
