Ibrahima Konate’s place at Liverpool has been questioned as Arne Slot’s men close in on Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi.
The defender enjoyed a successful season for the Eagles last campaign, making 34 Premier League appearances and helping the South London club win the FA Cup.
Thanks to his Palace exploits, Guehi has now been eyed by Liverpool, as Arne Slot looks to continue bolstering his squad.
The defending Premier League champions have already welcomed the notable additions of former Bayer Leverkusen duo Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz.
Konate’s future questioned as Liverpool eye Guehi
France international Konate played a key role in the Reds’ Premier League title-winning success last season, making 31 top-flight outings.
But Guehi could be seen as an upgrade on the 26-year-old, having shone in Palace colours since leaving Chelsea in 2021.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [30 June], Jeff Stelling said: “He (Guehi) would definitely start there. I’m not sure Konate’s going to be there.
“I would pick him ahead of Konate. I’d pick Guehi every day of the week over Konate.
“Konate’s been great, but Guehi is developing into just a top-quality player.”

But regardless of whether the Frenchman leaves Merseyside, the Palace defender will shine at Anfield, should he choose to leave Palace this summer.
Guehi has deservedly become an England regular and appears set to represent the Three Lions in next summer’s World Cup.
A move to Liverpool would see the 24-year-old playing Champions League football and vying to help the Reds retain the Premier League title.
Performing in such a high-pressure environment would be ideal preparation for next summer’s World Cup from Guehi’s point of view, and his Crystal Palace exploits show that he is ready to make the step up to a side that boast aspirations of winning more silverware.
Furthermore, playing alongside two-time Premier League winner Virgil van Dijk would surely get the best out of the England international, who still has more to offer.
