Iga Swiatek beat Caroline Garcia again to reach the third round of the Miami Open, but it was a tougher match this time. After winning against Garcia at Indian Wells two weeks ago with a quick 6-2, 6-0 score, Swiatek had to work harder in Miami.

Swiatek, from Poland, had to save a set point in the second set before winning 6-2, 7-5. She admitted that her energy dropped quickly and that she needed to “wake up” to keep her focus. “I tried to keep the intensity from the first set, follow through, and go for it,” she said.

At the start of the second set, Garcia played better and took a 3-1 lead. However, Swiatek fought back and saved a set point while serving at 5-4. After that, she stayed strong and secured her spot in the last 32 of the tournament.

For Swiatek, 2025 has been a bit challenging so far. The 23-year-old, who has won five Grand Slam titles, lost in the semifinals of both the Australian Open to Madison Keys and Indian Wells to Mirra Andreeva.
