Oscar Piastri won the Chinese Grand Prix, getting his third F1 win. McLaren had a strong performance, taking both first and second place, with Piastri leading and Lando Norris in second. However, Lewis Hamilton, Charles Leclerc, and Pierre Gasly were disqualified after the race for having cars that didn’t meet the rules.
Piastri started from the front and kept his lead throughout the race. This was a great comeback after a mistake at his home race in Melbourne last week. Norris had some trouble with his brakes near the end of the race but managed to keep his second place. George Russell took third, making it two podiums in a row for him.
Hamilton and Leclerc originally finished fifth and sixth but were disqualified because their cars did not meet the rules. Hamilton’s car was found to have too much plank wear underneath, while Leclerc’s and Gasly’s cars were under the required weight limit by 1kg.
Esteban Ocon scored his first points for Haas, finishing fifth. Kimi Antonelli from Mercedes and Alex Albon from Williams finished sixth and seventh. British teenager Oliver Bearman made a great comeback to finish eighth. Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz also got points due to the disqualifications.
Piastri led almost every lap of the race and showed why he is a strong competitor this season. Norris faced some issues but kept control and secured second place. Russell tried to catch up but finished 1.3 seconds behind Norris.
Max Verstappen managed to take fourth after a strong move to pass Leclerc. McLaren’s one-two finish puts them 25 points ahead of Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship. Red Bull and Ferrari have a lot to think about since they were far behind McLaren’s pace.
Oscar Piastri was happy with his win, saying, “The car was great the whole time. I’m just so proud of the team.” Norris praised his teammate, saying, “Oscar drove really well. I’m happy with second, and it’s great points for us.” Russell was pleased with his performance, calling it “one of my best weekends in F1.”
