Amid swirling speculation about his future in the sport, Eli Tomac has officially confirmed that he intends to continue racing in 2026. Speaking to Donn Maeda at Swapmoto Live, Tomac addressed the persistent rumors surrounding his potential retirement and clarified that he has no intention of stepping away just yet.
This news comes just weeks after whispers emerged about potential interest from Ducati in securing Tomac for the 2026 season. Additionally, there have been suggestions that the American motocross star has been in contact with KTM for a possible test ahead of 2026. While nothing has been formally confirmed on the manufacturer side, Tomac’s own statement has now firmly reignited excitement among fans and the motocross paddock alike.
Tomac’s motivation appears stronger than ever, especially following the disappointment of his recent injury setbacks. A serious leg injury derailed his 2025 AMA 450 Supercross title hopes, adding to a string of physical hurdles he has faced in recent years. However, far from discouraging him, these challenges seem to have fueled his desire to return to the track even stronger.
“It has really frustrated me mentally having these last few injuries,” Tomac told Swapmoto Live. “And then I keep, honestly, surprising myself. This year I was faster again than 2023, staying with the lead group of guys and winning a race. I am actually at the position where, no, I am not going to stop racing.”
Tomac’s declaration puts to rest growing rumors that he was planning to retire after 2025. While he didn’t commit to a specific timeline for his return or confirm which manufacturer he may be aligned with in 2026, the most important detail is clear: Eli Tomac is not done.
“As for a timeframe? I am not sure,” he continued. “But one thing is for sure, I am not done, and I am looking to go racing again next year.”
The 31-year-old has long been one of the most dominant and resilient figures in modern motocross. A multi-time AMA Supercross and Motocross champion, Tomac’s raw speed, fierce determination, and technical skill have earned him a devoted fanbase and respect from rivals across the world.
