Baylor women’s basketball lands Auburn transfer Taliah Scott

Background and Early Career

Taliah Scott hails from Orange Park, Florida, and began her collegiate career at the University of Arkansas. In her freshman year (2023-2024), she led the Razorbacks with an impressive 22.1 points per game, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. Scott also averaged 3.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, shooting 40.7% from the field and 83.8% from the free-throw line. ​

Before her time at Arkansas, Scott was a standout at St. John’s Country Day School in Florida. She concluded her high school career with 2,735 points, averaging 36.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 3.0 steals per game in her senior year. Her exceptional performance earned her accolades such as the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year and a McDonald’s All-American selection.

Tenure at Auburn

In April 2024, Scott transferred to Auburn University, where she continued to make significant contributions. In her debut game against Little Rock, she scored 26 points, including eight 3-pointers, and added nine rebounds. Throughout the season, Scott reached the 20-point mark in 13 games, with three performances exceeding 30 points.

Transition to Baylor

Following Auburn’s dismissal of head coach Johnnie Harris, Scott entered the transfer portal and subsequently committed to Baylor. Baylor head coach Nicki Collen expressed enthusiasm about Scott’s potential impact on the team, highlighting her scoring versatility and defensive capabilities. ​
