Liverpool Fans Slam ‘Worst Signing We’ve Made in Past Decade’ After Chelsea Draw

Liverpool supporters have lambasted one of their own players following Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Chelsea.

The Reds began the afternoon fourth in the Premier League table, level on points with fifth-placed Aston Villa, knowing that a victory would secure Champions League football for next season.

Chelsea, on the other hand, came into the fixture in dismal form, having dropped to ninth in the table following six straight Premier League defeats.

And the Blues, currently managed by interim head coach Calum McFarlane, got off to the worst possible start at Anfield when Ryan Gravenberch curled an unstoppable effort past Filip Jorgensen from the edge of the box.

Liverpool threatened to extend their lead, with the lively 17-year-old Rio Ngumoha causing havoc down the flanks, but it was Chelsea who scored the game’s next goal in the 35th minute through Enzo Fernandez.

Cole Palmer thought he’d given the visitors the lead early in the second half but the playmaker’s goal was ruled out for a marginal offside.

Liverpool had a goal of their own ruled out for offside shortly afterwards. Curtis Jones nodded in from close-range but the assistant referee had raised his flag for offside in the build-up.

Virgil van Dijk smashed the bar with a thumping header with 10 minutes remaining, but in the end both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils.

The under-fire Slot was booed when he decided to withdraw Ngumoha for Alexander Isak with 25 minutes left to play. Saturday’s result means we’re no clearer over whether the Dutchman will still be in charge of the Merseyside outfit at the start of next season.

On the pitch, Liverpool fans on social media have slammed Jeremie Frimpong following his poor performance on the right wing.

Honestly believe that Frimpong might be the worst signing we’ve made in the past decade,” @LFCLaurie, who has 55,000 followers on X (Twitter) wrote. “What on earth were we thinking?”

Another supporter commented: “I don’t think he could start for anyone in the Premier League: he doesn’t improve any team.”

A third fan wrote: “Frimpong and [Milos] Kerkez are the worst signings we’ve made since 2022. Atrocious. Frimpong doesn’t look like a footballer. Pace merchant.”
