Uruguayan forward Darwin Núñez, currently playing for Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, has asked the club’s management to let him go at the end of the current season. Negotiations are currently underway between the player and the club regarding an early termination of his contract, under which Núñez receives a weekly salary of £400,000, according to talkSPORT. The reason for this decision is a lack of playing time and the loss of a place in the starting lineup following the arrival of striker Karim Benzema in the winter. Núñez has already begun exploring options to continue his career in Europe. Turkish clubs have shown interest in him, but Darwin would be happy to return to the English Premier League, where he spent three seasons with Liverpool, scoring 40 goals in 143 matches. The striker joined Al-Hilal from Liverpool in the summer of 2025 for €53 million. During his time with the Saudi Arabian club, he played 24 matches, scoring 16 goals and providing three assists. Núñez’s contract with Al-Hilal runs until 2028. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €25 million.
