Ibrahima Konate risks Liverpool fan anger again with recent comments

Ibrahima Konaté has risked upsetting Liverpool fans after describing Real Madrid as “the best club in the world” following his summer move to the Spanish giants on a free transfer.

The French defender left Anfield after his contract expired, despite previously suggesting that a new deal was close. His departure followed a similar path to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who also joined Real Madrid.

Konaté has enjoyed a promising start under José Mourinho, establishing himself as a regular in the team.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s clash with RB Leipzig, he said: “Real Madrid is the best club in the world. It’s more than I expected. Everything is amplified to a much greater degree, people all over the world are talking about us.”

His comments could frustrate Liverpool supporters, who watched him develop during his time at Anfield.

However, the emergence of young defender Jeremy Jacquet could help ease the disappointment. The Frenchman has impressed alongside Virgil van Dijk, providing Liverpool with encouraging defensive performances.

While Konaté looks to establish himself at Real Madrid, Liverpool fans will hope Jacquet can continue developing and become a key figure at Anfield.
