EMMA RADUCANU STRUGGLES IN 2025, RISKING A BIG DROP IN RANKINGS
Emma Raducanu has had a difficult start to 2025, and her WTA ranking is dropping.
Right now, she is ranked No. 55, but in the latest update, she has fallen to No. 60.
Last year, she reached the third round of a big WTA 1000 tournament, but this time, she lost 6-3, 6-2 to Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima. That loss cost her ranking points.
She now has a chance to improve her ranking at the Miami Open this week, a tournament she missed last year due to injury.
Raducanu can also earn more points during the European clay court season. Last year, she skipped the French Open qualifying to prepare for the grass court season instead.
However, things don’t look good for the British No. 2. She has lost six of the nine matches she played this year.
Her poor results are also affecting her WTA Race ranking, which only counts 2025 performances. She is currently No. 72, and if she doesn’t start winning, she will drop even further.
Most of her ranking points came from last year’s grass court season, where she did well in front of British fans. She reached the Nottingham Open semi-finals, won some key matches in Eastbourne, and made it to the fourth round at Wimbledon. That run earned her 446 points, and since she has just over 1,000 points in total, she needs more wins before the end of the grass season to stay in the WTA Top 100.
Since parting ways with her former coach, Nick Cavaday, after the Australian Open in January, she has won only one match.
Despite her struggles, Raducanu remains positive. She recently trained with Slovakian coach Vladimir Platenik in Indian Wells and hopes to turn things around soon.
