Luis Diaz also made his league debut for the Bavarians – and the Allianz Arena faithful have delivered their verdict on the Colombian.
Diaz, 28, made the big decision this summer to leave Liverpool and move onto pastures new. Fresh off the back of winning his first Premier League title, he was ready for a new challenge, and that came in the form of securing a spot on the left for Bayern.
Vincent Kompany, of course, is spoiled for choice in the attacking areas, but Diaz is keen to cement himself as the Belgian tactician’s first-choice winger on the left. Whether he’ll be able to remains to be seen – but for now, the fans are focusing on his league debut.

Known for his sheer pace and fleet-footedness, Liverpool supporters were sad to see the wide man go. In 148 appearances for the Reds, he scored 41 goals and 23 assists – but when Kompany and Co proposed a £65.5 million bid, it was one that the Premier League side’s higher-ups couldn’t ignore.
And his Bundesliga debut has got the tongues of Bayern fans wagging and for good reason, too. The No.14, widely regarded as one of the greatest Colombian players in football history, was keen to attack his man – which is often seen as a dying art.
Stationed on the left alongside Kane, Michael Olise and Serge Gnabry – who was operating in the No.10 role – Diaz was thrown straight at the deep end. Incredibly, he notched a goal and two assists, while he also completed the most dribbles (four) and created the most chances (four) of any player.
Get German Football News, having picked him as their Man of the Match, waxed poetic about Diaz’s display. “I have gone for Diaz because this is his first Bundesliga game, and he ended the game with a goal and two assists,” the publication wrote.
“The Colombian offers something that Bayern have been missing, and that is someone who is able to cut inside and is simply direct. The highlight of Diaz’s night will be his goal, a well-worked team move, which he started, and his finish has already staked a claim for goal of the season.”
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), there are many Bayern supporters that believe their left-winger issues have finally been alleviated upon the former FC Porto hotshot’s arrival this summer. They wrote: “Can I finally say it out loud: Luis Diaz is the best LW on the transfer market this year, and I’m glad we got him.”
A second supporter insisted that Diaz’s arrival allows Kompany and his entourage to switch things up after becoming too predictable (by always using Olise on the right). The club’s left flank has been ‘revived’, they wrote.
“Luis Diaz did not only fix our LW issue but also revived our left flank. It’s usually non-existent without Davies. We had become predictable as teams know we resort to Olise. Diaz’s existence basically changes Bayern’s game plan.”
Liverpool Fans Slam Club For Sanctioning Diaz’s Departure
While the Bayern Munich fans are, evidently, now basking in delight that Diaz plays for them, there is another collection of supporters to consider here – and that’s the Anfield faithful, a crowd the left-winger played in front of many, many times. They are angry at the club’s boardroom for letting him leave, as one wrote:
“I’ll be honest, if we do not sign Alexander Isak before the window closes, then this Luis Diaz sale is going to look like an awful and brainless decision.”
“I said it when it happened, the sale of Luis Diaz was a big mistake. Always plays at a frantic pace with great energy and a constant goal threat,” a second fan said as a final supporter concluded: “If we don’t sign an attacker, whoever sanctioned the sale of Luis Diaz first should be sacked.”
