‘Huge issue’: Liverpool fans infuriated with one key aspect of Arne Slot’s tactical approach in Man City loss

Liverpool sustained a dismal 3-0 loss to Man City in their Premier League clash at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (9 November, 2025).
The Reds were not able to play at their clinical best, conceding twice in the first half before Jeremy Doku’s second-half goal sealed the deal.

A lot of Liverpool fans are disappointed with how the players performed against Man City, and there seems to be a real problem about the pressing tactic employed by Arne Slot.

Many supporters are complaining about how poor the pressing methods from the Liverpool players were and how they failed to properly press down the players before the game was already decided. Here are some reactions on that from X (Twitter).

General: “I really like some of what Slot has done for Liverpool but our pressing and shape without the ball still remain huge issues. What’s worrying me is that this is his second season and there’s been no real improvement in our press. It’s frustrating.”

Safwanadam: “Liverpool have been terrible. The intensity and pressing is severely lacking this season.”

BhekaMtshali: “This is no longer the Liverpool that we know. No pressing anymore, no agility, no anticipation, no tactical awareness and organization. Has the Manager run out of ideas…!!!”

_1regularbeing: “This has to be the MOST clueless manager in the history of Liverpool. Played a very terrible instruction in the first half; started pressing after we’re 2-0 down then make that shitty subs.”

Gabbani: “Apart from the fact that Liverpool are now terrible at pressing, they’ve also been poor in the final third this season.”
