Real Madrid have withdrawn from the race to sign Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi, according to AS.
The Spanish giants were previously keen on the England international, but Guehi’s salary and the signing-on fee involved in a potential deal are considered too steep.
Having already splashed £50 million to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth in the summer, Real Madrid do not have the funds available to pursue another major defensive signing.
With Guehi’s contract expiring next summer, Liverpool are now viewed as the leading contenders for his signature, with Bayern Munich emerging as their main rivals in the race to sign the Crystal Palace defender.
