Manchester City fans have made their feelings clear on social media after they fell to a defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League.
Earlier in the week, City and Brighton met in the Carabao Cup, with Enzo Maresca’smen advancing to the quarter-finals after winning 4-3 on penalties following a 2-2 draw in normal time.
On Saturday afternoon, the pair met again at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League, with Yasin Ayari giving the visitors a 1-0 lead inside 11 minutes.
In the second half, Maresca brought on the likes of Rayan Cherki and Nico O’Reilly as they pushed for the equaliser. Eventually, Fabian Hurzeler’s men produced a brilliant defensive display to hold on to a vital 1-0 win.
Following the match, City remained top of the Premier League table but will drop to second place if Arsenal win or draw against Liverpool in a mouth-watering clash at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
Man City Fans Slam Gianluigi Donnarumma’s Performance Against Brighton
Taking to social media, City fans were far from impressed with the performance of Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has been criticised in recent weeks.
Against Aston Villa last time out, Donnarumma failed to save Nicolas Jackson’s winning goal, with the ball seemingly going under the Italian goalkeeper.
This time around against Brighton, Donnarumma failed to keep a clean sheet and was involved in a number of nervy moments at the back of City’s defence.
One fan said: “Donnarumma has to be dropped, it’s all falling apart.”
