Liverpool delighted their fans recently by confirming a new long-term contract extension for Ryan Gravenberch, keeping him firmly in their long-term plans.
However, there are quite a few players who are now moving into the final phases of their contracts with the Reds – which includes Alexis Mac Allister.
The Argentine midfielder is contracted to the club until the end of June, 2028 and his father recently told WinWinSports that there are no negotiations between his son and the club over a new long-term contract.

Liverpool fans are annoyed by this and feel that the club sho uldn’t rush into handing a new contract for Mac Allister, who has struggled with consistency in the 2025/26 season. Here are some reactions from Reddit.
Bodonwed: “Hate stuff like this because it does no favors to the club’s leverage in the market if their intent is to sell and move on. Unless he’s about to miraculously turn back the clock and look like his August 2023 – February 2025 self, then I imagine they will look to get what they can for him and replace him with a #6. Grav and Szoboszlai are certainly the more “obvious” MF profiles to re-sign.”
Standard_still_8128: “Imagine watching him play this year an thinking he’ll be offered a new deal, he’s been absolutely crap falls over more than Saka.”

Treelokc: “It doesn’t feel like the right time for him to get a new contract anyway. I haven’t completely given up on him like some of our fans, but he has to turn his form around and prove he’s worth keeping hold of before we tie him down with a big contract. If he remains at the same level he’s played this season, he’s upgradeable.”
Whole_Kangaroo6153: “He’s actually one I don’t mind seeing leave after this season, as long as a replacement is found (Wharton) I’d rather we focus on tying Szobo down to a new deal now Grav is done.”
WTF4211: “He honestly can leave. He hasn’t been good since middle of last season.”
