Mohamed Salah has suffered a tragic personal loss after his sister, Rabab, confirmed the death of their grandfather.
Egyptian reports on Monday revealed that Salah’s grandfather, Ahmed Abdel Aziz Al Bambi, had passed away, with preparations underway for his burial in Nagrig, the Liverpool star’s hometown.
Rabab later shared an emotional tribute on Facebook, expressing prayers for mercy and forgiveness for their late grandfather.
It remains uncertain whether Salah will return to Egypt to attend the funeral. The Liverpool forward recently featured in the Reds’ 2–1 defeat to Manchester City and is expected to be part of a demanding week of fixtures, with games against Sunderland and Brighton coming up.
Salah, who is known for his close bond with his family, has been quiet on social media since the City match.
Liverpool previously granted Ibrahima Konate compassionate leave following the death of his father, allowing him to miss several matches before returning to action.
