Aston Villa and Liverpool are set to hold discussions over Harvey Elliott’s loan arrangement, with talks allowed to take place after the transfer deadline, according to Daily Mail.

The current situation is understood to suit neither the player nor the clubs, with potential changes being considered to the terms of the deal. Options on the table include raising the appearance threshold required to trigger the obligation to buy, or converting the obligation into a purchase option.

Elliott joined Villa on loan from Liverpool in a deal that includes a mandatory £35 million buy clause if a set number of appearances are reached.

However, the England Under-21 international has struggled for regular minutes, making just seven appearances across all competitions since his arrival.
