Liverpool welcome Qarabag FK to Anfield on Wednesday for their final Champions League league-phase match, needing just a victory to secure automatic progression to the round of 16 and bypass the playoffs.

Arne Slot’s side sit fourth in the standings with 12 points from five games, two clear of ninth-placed Barcelona, after a dominant 3-0 win over Marseille in their last European outing.

Despite a recent 3-2 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth that ended a 13-game unbeaten run and sparked fresh questions over Slot’s future amid a winless start to 2026 domestically, the Reds have largely kept their European form strong – with the PSV and Galatasaray setbacks the main blemishes in an otherwise solid campaign.

Qarabag arrive buoyed by a thrilling 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt that kept their playoff hopes alive, but they face a tough task.

Team news

Joe Gomez is injured alongside Giovanni Leoni (ACL), Alexander Isak (leg) and Conor Bradley (knee). Liverpool are also sweating over Federico Chiesa’s fitness after the Italian missed out against Marseille and Bournemouth with a knock.

As for the visitors, Brazilian playmaker Kady Borges is on the sidelines with an unspecified injury, while striker Ramil Sheydayev is ineligible, but Qurbanov is otherwise working with a fully-fit and available squad.

Possible lineups

Liverpool: Alisson; Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Jones, Endo; Gakpo, Mac Allister, Ngumoha; Ekitike

Qarabag: Kochalski; Silva, Mustafazada, Medina, Cafarquliyev; Jankovic, Bicalho; Andrade, Montiel, Zoubir; Duran
