Liverpool beat Wolves 2-1 on Saturday, but the second half was not a pretty viewing at Anfield.
Despite going into half-time with a comfortable 2-0 lead, the Reds let Wolves back into the game as Santiago Bueno converted from a corner.
While many would have expected this to be a blip in the day against the side sat bottom of the Premier League with just two points, somehow this goal saw the hosts’ tails drop as Wolves searched for an equaliser.
Liverpool did manage to hang on in the end, but it was not a good watch from the Premier League champions in a game they were expected to win comfortably.
Now, with Arne Slot already under pressure at Anfield this season, the result and performance was not enough to get supporters back on his side.
Liverpool fans demand that Arne Slot is sacked after Wolves win
Despite positives from the display, such as Hugo Ekitike’s performance against Wolves, negatives have once again overshadowed the game.
A lack of attacking intent has seen many fans turn on the Dutchman, despite him delivering a Premier League title last season.
One of the key weaknesses of Liverpool this season has been their inability to defend in the second half.
Overall, this campaign, Liverpool’s backline has been poor, letting in 26 goals to date, by far the most in the current top five.
However, according to FootyStats on 27 December, most of these have come in the second half, at a whopping 18.
This is something Slot has to sort out if he is to get fans back on his side going into the new year.
If not, this trend will inevitably cost the Reds, which in turn could lead to Slot losing his job.
