Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has warned that the club needs to be active in the transfer market to keep its hopes of a top-four finish alive.
“Without signing an additional striker and central defender, Liverpool will find it very difficult to finish in the top four.
“Manchester City have managed to maintain stable results and their Champions League positions, though the effectiveness of some of their transfers in the long term is uncertain. In part, it seemed more like a reaction to a crisis rather than a strategic plan.
“Liverpool must exercise caution but also be ready to take risks. Without reinforcements in January, achieving their season objectives will be extremely challenging,” he said.

At present, Arne Slot’s side is sixth in the league with 29 points after 17 matches.
