Ian Wright thinks he knows what injury Alexander Isak has picked up while scoring for Liverpool

Liverpool ground out a nervy win over Tottenham on Saturday in a game marred by a serious-looking injury to Alexander Isak.

Isak has had a torrid time since arriving for a British record fee on transfer deadline day, but enjoyed a better moment as he put the Reds ahead just after half-time.

However, the Swede could not even celebrate only his third goal for Liverpool as he writhed in pain on the ground.

A stretcher was called across, and although Isak ultimately was able to walk from the field with assistance from the Liverpool physios, supporters will be fearing the worst.

The worry will be over Isak’s knees, and according to former Arsenal striker Ian Wright, Liverpool fans are right to be concerned.

Liverpool have already lost one player to a serious knee injury this season, with Giovanni Leoni out for the rest of the campaign.

Speaking to premierleague.com after the Reds’ 2-1 win over Spurs, Wright claimed that it did indeed look like a knee issue for Isak.

“It was good play from Liverpool and then a very clinical finish,” praised the former England international.

“You expect him to take the chance and it is unfortunate what has happened to him, he seems to have hurt his knee.”
