Liverpool could reportedly sell Alexander Isak if his poor run of form continues, according to a former Reds player.
When Liverpool broke the British transfer record by signing Isak from Newcastle United for £125 million in the summer transfer window, many thought his arrival would help Liverpool comfortably retain their status as Premier League champions.
However, in his 15 appearances for Arne Slot’s side, the Sweden international has performed well below the level expected of such a costly player, scoring just twice.
Meanwhile, fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike, who signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for £79 million, has netted ten times in 23 appearances, putting pressure on Isak to perform.
Of course, it must be considered that the Swede has struggled with fitness throughout his short time at Liverpool, having also missed out on pre-season.

Isak was a substitute during Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Brighton last time out, replacing Ekitike with 12 minutes to play.
But Liverpool and Slot’s patience will only last so long, and Isak could soon find himself sitting on the bench watching Ekitike lead the line for the Reds more often.
In this case, the 26-year-old’s future would be called into question despite him signing a six-year deal with Liverpool in September.
And former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes Isak could even be sold if his fortunes on Merseyside don’t improve before the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
Speaking to JeffBet, via GOAL, the German said: “I’m not sure Liverpool will sell anyone in January, but if things don’t pick up for Alexander Isak come March or April, they’ll probably have discussions to sell him to a club like Barcelona in the summer.
“There will be plenty of takers for Isak because he’s shown his ability at Newcastle. It also largely depends on the form of Ekitike, because if he continues to improve, it will be a struggle for Isak to get games unless he’s forced out wide.”
It is unclear whether Barcelona are interested in the player, given their recent financial struggles, but the club will likely need a striker to replace Robert Lewandowski, who is out of contract at the end of the season and heavily linked with a move to MLS side Chicago Fire.
Also, it must be noted that there is nothing to suggest Liverpool would be willing to sell Isak at this time. The 26-year-old will be hoping to return to form next time out, with the Reds set to travel to Spurs on December 20.
