Arne Slot has been told how left he has as Liverpool manager after the Reds’ dismal run continued with a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night.
The Reds have now lost nine of their last 12 games in all competitions and conceded at least three goals in their last three fixtures following the PSV pummelling – which brought an x-rated post-match interview from Curtis Jones.
Former Spurs winger Ivan Perisic opened the scoring with a penalty after captain Virgil van Dijk gave away his third spot-kick of the season.
Dominik Szoboszlai levelled matters 10 minutes later but second half goals from Guus Til and Couhab Driouech (2) handed the Premier League champions a second heavy Anfield defeat in a week.

The pressure is piling on Slot, who led the club to the Premier League title in his first season in April but has endured a disastrous period after spending £450 million on new recruits.
With doubts about his ability to turn things around, Reds legend Jamie Carragherclaims that this week is crucial for Slot’s future and anything less than seven points from game against West Ham, Sunderlandand Leeds United should result in his sacking.

“Arne Slot has a week to save his job,” Carragher wrote in his column for The Telegraph after claiming the Dutchman “should be sacked” for continuing to pick error-prone Ibrahima Konate.
“It is hard to believe that sentence is being written, but Liverpool’s next three games are against West Ham United, Sunderland and Leeds United. Anything fewer than seven points will make an already unacceptable situation untenable.
“No matter how much goodwill the manager has, Liverpool Football Club cannot sustain the drop in standards witnessed over the past three months.”
He added: “With respect to the upcoming opponents, he could not have picked a better sequence of games to win back trust and save himself. But if it gets any worse and the manager cannot find the answers, the club will have no choice but to find someone else who can.”
Liverpool’s stance on Slot after PSV defeat
Slot has a contract until 2027 and has been in discussions over an extension on Merseyside. Because of that deal, Liverpool would likely have to pay Slot around £10 million if they relieved him of his duties.
According to a report from Mail Sport,written by reporter Lewis Steele, the Liverpool board still have faith in Slot – with sources from the club and the 47-year-old insisting it is the case.
Speaking after the latest loss about his position, Slot said: “I am OK, I have got a lot of support from above. It would be nice to turn it around and get a victory, of course, but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that questions are asked.
“I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we turned it around.”
12th in the Premier League, Liverpool travel to West Ham on Sunday for a 2:05pm kick-off.
