Liverpool is currently experiencing a troubling streak under Arne Slot, having lost six out of their last seven Premier League matches, and FSG has demonstrated their willingness to make tough decisions regarding managerial changes.

Arne Slot, the head coach of Liverpool, is increasingly facing intense scrutiny regarding his future with the team.

The recent 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest has further extended the Reds’ poor performance. They have now lost six of their last seven Premier League games and eight out of their last eleven across all competitions.

With only 12 league matches played, their title defense seems to be all but over. The issue is not solely the number of losses; the display against Forest was particularly alarming this season, as Slot continues to struggle to maximize his players’ potential despite significant investment during the summer transfer window.

Even after last season’s achievements, Liverpool’s manager Slot still enjoys considerable support. Just recently, the club’s chairman Tom Werner expressed his backing, indicating that Slot is not on the verge of being dismissed.

Nevertheless, FSG has proven they can act decisively when the situation demands it.

It has been ten years since the club’s ownership faced a decision regarding the termination of a manager or head coach, with Brendan Rodgers being the last to be dismissed in 2015.

Rodgers, similar to Slot, received backing in the transfer market – though to a significantly lesser amount of £80 million ($105M) – before the 2015/16 season.

However, after a 1-1 draw with Everton left the Reds in 10th place just a few months into the season, the patience of the management had worn thin.

As reported by the Liverpool Echo, merely an hour after the final whistle, FSG president Mike Gordon contacted Rodgers to deliver the news of his dismissal.

The decision shocked many observers – with Thierry Henry’s supportive gesture towards Jamie Carragher becoming a memorable moment – but Liverpool’s American owners had been preparing for this outcome for weeks.

FSG had been discreetly seeking a possible replacement over the last two weeks, and just days before the confirmation of Rodgers’ exit, Jurgen Klopp was meeting with Liverpool’s leadership.

“The initial meeting took place in New York, that’s correct,” Klopp reflected on his first interaction with Liverpool and FSG.

“However, the first phone call with Mike occurred prior to that, three days before, I can’t recall exactly. It was a pleasant day, I remember it well. I think I was still in bed. I had no obligations. I was on a break.

“I was aware that Mike, or someone from FSG, would be reaching out. At that time, I didn’t know Mike. But we spoke for an hour on the phone.

“I must have persuaded him enough that he wanted to meet in New York to finalize the deal. That’s essentially how it began.”

Both sides managed to keep the meeting confidential; Klopp mentioned he had traveled to the U.S. to watch a basketball game, and after discussions that lasted six hours, the German’s appointment as Rodgers’ successor was nearly confirmed.

There is no indication that any covert meetings with potential successors have taken place without Slot’s knowledge, although FSG has demonstrated their ability to keep such matters private.

With the club’s chairman Werner in attendance during the defeat against Forest on Saturday, Slot will be under the scrutiny of Liverpool’s senior management.

The Reds’ manager must devise a strategy to address their ongoing issues, or FSG may feel compelled to execute only their second dismissal in a decade.
