Luis Diaz issued a clear reminder to Liverpool with his latest performance for Bayern Munich. The Colombia international left the Reds during the summer transfer window to join the Bundesliga giants.
After weeks of speculation, Liverpool eventually reached an agreement for a £65.5million deal for Diaz to join Bayern. Diaz had played a key role in helping the Reds win the Premier League title last season but made the decision to leave Anfield to pursue a new challenge.
Since leaving Merseyside, Diaz has gone on to enjoy an impressive start to life in Germany. The 28-year-old scored two goals for Bayern in their 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
Diaz’s opening goal was scored just 14 seconds into the game, while his second came in the 84th minute. Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was also on the score sheet for Bayern against Frankfurt.
After the game, Diaz took to social media to issue a message after playing a key role in Bayern’s win.
The former Liverpool star posted a photo of himself on his Instagram story celebrating a goal, which had been posted by Bayern’s official account, while also including a caption that included a lightning bolt and a red love heart.
Diaz’s brace for Bayern came on the same day that Liverpool lost 2-1 to Chelsea in the Premier League, which is now their third consecutive defeat in all competitions.
Arbe Slot’s side are struggling to find the fluiditity they had in the final third last season following an overhaul of the squad in the summer transfer window.
The Reds sit second in the league table and one point behind leaders Arsenal going into the international break.
