Liverpool may look to complete an incredible double deal in the summer transfer window, according to reports – with manager Arne Slot aiming to bring in Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise through the doors at Anfield to make him the club’s long-term right-winger, once Mohamed Salah departs in the coming years when his contract expires on Merseyside.

The report by CaughtOffside states that despite Liverpool having had a busy summer transfer window, they are continuing to make more ambitious plans for the future to keep themselves at the top of the English footballing pyramid.

Once Liverpool get a deal for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi over the line with his contract set to expire at the end of next season, they could then make a move for Olise, who also spent his formative years at Selhurst Park alongside Guehi before he secured a move to the Bundesliga champions.

The Reds remain confident in a deal for Guehi, despite a deal collapsing at the final hurdle on Deadline Day after they had agreed a £35million deal with Palace for the England international’s signature, with the Eagles unable to secure a replacement for his talents.

Liverpool would then look to complete a move for Olise as a long-term Mohamed Salah replacement. The ‘world-class’ France international, who came through the youth ranks at League One outfit Reading, would likely have an asking price of £87million, despite CaughtOffside sources stating that there is a clause for slightly less than that with Premier League clubs.

There is also a sense that Olise would like to return to England, with sources believing that he would have ‘plenty of suitors’ if he does decide to come back to the Premier League.

Olise, 23, was previously in the youth academies of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City, before joining Reading at the age of 15. Stepping into their first-team in 2018, he played 73 times for the Championship outfit, scoring seven goals in his final season for the club before moving to Palace.

He initially struggled for goals at Selhurst Park, but the 2023/24 campaign saw him bag 10 goals in just 19 Premier League games, marking his breakthrough season – and that has seen him move to Bayern, where he’s excelled with 24 goals and 23 assists in just 59 games for the Bavarian giants in all competitions, winning the Bundesliga in his first full season, marking a first-ever major honour.
