Marc Guehi’s Farewell Video to Crystal Palace Before Collapsed Liverpool Move Leaked

A farewell video for Marc Guehi’s departure from Crystal Palace has been leaked on social media mere minutes after the England international’s move to Liverpool collapsed. The Eagles skipper was set to complete a move to the Premier League champions worth £35 million, with a medical having been completed ahead of the 7pm deadline.

However, a stumbling block emerged as Palace’s replacement, Igor Julio, decided to sign for West Ham instead, leaving the Guehi deal in a state of chaos. While Liverpool did submit a deal sheet to the Premier League that allowed for more time to get the deal over the line, it was decided that Guehi would return to Selhurst Park, squandering the move.

And it appears that everything was in place for the 25-year-old to be given an emotional goodbye, with the video that was set to be released following the announcement of his move now appearing on social media.

Guehi’s Leaked Farewell Video

The video that has quickly done the rounds on X lasts a little over three minutes and starts with black-and-white cinematography, with footage showing Guehi in action before transitioning to an interview he conducted when he first joined the club back in 2021.

A montage of clips followed that included Guehi’s first goal for Palace, the first time he captained the side and the subsequent post-match interview where he appeared over the moon, and a clip of the moment he found out he had received an England call-up for the first time.

More footage was shown of him interacting with teammates, including the recently departed Eberechi Eze, before some of his best defensive actions were spotlighted as well as more goals, including the stunner in what looked to have likely been his final game for the club against Aston Villa on Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, the video ends with footage of Guehi following Palace’s historic FA Cup triumph, where his voice can be heard over the top saying:

“I’m a south London boy. Grew up in south London. Captained the club from a young age. They’ve been fantastic for me and my family. Definitely a pleasure to play for this football club.”

The video ended with the footage fading to black and the words ‘Thank You Skip’ taking up the centre of the screen to finish off what was an emotional retrospective look at Guehi’s time at Selhurst Park.

The reaction to the leak has been met with widespread praise online, with many commending how Guehi handled himself throughout the speculation in the same window that Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa published bombshell statements in order to force moves away from their clubs.

Guehi will return to Palace with a year left on his contract, meaning he could leave on a free transfer next summer and is free to start negotiating with clubs outside of England in January.
