What Federico Chiesa did on the back of Rio Ngumoha’s dramatic winner against Newcastle United has got Liverpool fans talking.
On Monday night, 16-year-old Ngumoha announced himself on the world stage after scoring a last-gasp winner for Liverpool against Newcastle.
After having Anthony Gordon sent off for a rash challenge on Virgil van Dijk, Newcastle looked dead and buried when Hugo Ekitike made it 2-0 in the first minute of the second half.
However, Liverpool’s defensive fragility was once again on show as goals from Bruno Guimaraes and William Osula made it 2-2 with 88 minutes on the clock.
Deep into 11 minutes of stoppage time, Ngumoha put his name in lights by finishing off arguably Liverpool’s only decent move of the entire evening, sealing a dramatic 3-2 victory.
After the match, a video filmed from the stands showing the entirety of Liverpool’s winning goal was posted on social media, with Chiesa catching the attention of fans.
As Ngumoha ran off to celebrate his maiden Premier League goal, Italian Chiesa was seen running towards the wrong direction in pure excitement before heading back towards the youngster.
The 27-year-old, who scored the winner against Bournemouth in the opening match, was then seen sharing an embrace with Mohamed Salah, who provided the assist for the goal.

Speaking after the match, Ngumoha said: “The fans, I heard them scream my name. That’s a very sensational moment, I would say, but you can’t just get carried away with all the noise.
“Because at the end of the day, I probably do that finish 100 times on the training ground, so it’s no different with the fans, but obviously the fans backing me there, it’s just crazy.”
