Liverpool had a bid for Alexander Isak rejected by Newcastle United on Friday afternoon. According to Sky Sports, the Reds made an offer of £110m plus add-ons for the Swedish striker, who is currently training at former club Real Sociedad amid uncertainty over his future.
“People back in England are dealing with the situation. I really don’t know what happens next. From our perspective, we still support Alex in every way, and my wish is that we see him in a Newcastle shirt again.”

Newcastle have a number of reasons for rejecting Liverpool’s offer for their talisman, according to Sky Sports News journalist Keith Downie. He said:
“The figure does not meet Newcastle’s valuation [of £150m], they don’t want to sell the player and they are yet to bring in a replacement.”
“This is not the last we are going to hear of this story. Newcastle are looking to bring in a top-level replacement. They need to have assurances that they will get a player in. They don’t want to leave themselves in a position where they have no strikers. All they would be left with is young Will Osula.
“Next week will be so interesting. Newcastle and Isak return on Monday and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool return with a second offer. Personal terms would not be a problem. It could be done next week. I don’t see it dragging on until the end of the transfer window.
“It’s a huge transfer and would be a Premier League record. I think if it is to happen, it will happen within the next week or 10 days. The longer it goes on, the less likely it is to be done.”
Newcastle have made signing a striker a ‘key priority’ this summer and they’ve been linked with a number of big names, including Yoane Wissa, Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins and Nick Woltemade.

Isak is very keen on a move to Liverpool and the Reds want to make a deal happen. Newcastle, though, are reportedly not impressed with their behaviour as they chase a move for the 25-year-old.
According to the Daily Mail, the Reds’ offer of £110m was £10m less than what they had offered informally last month. There is a belief that Liverpool have ‘strung along’ Isak and that the £110m offer was made to save face’ and placate Isak and his camp, despite knowing it will be rejected.
There is also bafflement and even some anger at Liverpool’s conduct. Liverpool have claimed they will not make another offer after the nature of the rebuttal, but it remains to be seen whether they will be true to their word as Isak pushes for a move.
