Alexander Isak could be set to stay at Newcastle United this window after Liverpool make a shock decision on their pursuit of the striker.
Isak has pushed for a move away from Newcastle this summer, after asking not to be included in the club’s pre-season tour to Asia
According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Liverpool have had an initial bid turned down on Friday for the 25-year-old who has been training alone at former club Real Sociedad.
Liverpool’s offer has been reported as £110 million which falls significantly short of Newcastle’s valuation, and now Isak could be forced to stay at St James’ Park if new reports are to be believed.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool’s opening bid could well be their last, due to the Magpies reluctance to sell the Swede.
He wrote on X: “Liverpool have no plans as it stands to bid again for Alexander Isak this window.
“Nature of NUFCs rebuttal means Liverpool will NOT follow up with a second offer. Regarded as futile unless Newcastle change their stance and contact Liverpool.
“Offer rejected was £110m. Terms with Isak not a problem,” he added.
Despite being thousands of miles away, all the talk on Newcastle’s pre-season tour has been surrounding the striker, and winger Anthony Gordon spoke out on the situation in a new interview from Seoul.
