Talks between Liverpool and Newcastle United over the potential transfer of Alexander Isak are reportedly progressing well.
That’s according to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, who has posted an exciting update on the saga on his official account on X this afternoon.
Isak, widely regarded by many as the best striker in Europe right now, has been strongly linked with Liverpool by reliable sources like Fabrizio Romano, and now Plettenberg states that club to club negotiations seem to be going well.

The reporter posted: “Talks between Newcastle and Liverpool over Alexander #Isak are progressing well. The player’s camp are very positive about the situation. Isak is hopeful that an agreement between the clubs can be reached. A record bid will be needed. #LFC A verbal agreement in principle over a contract running until 2031 has been reached with Liverpool, as reported yesterday.”

Liverpool won the Premier League title last season and have responded with a strong transfer window that has seen them sign elite young talents like Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
However, if they manage to get Isak in as well then they will truly be moving to a whole other level, and could be set to dominate in Europe as well as domestically.
The Sweden international has been a joy to watch during his time at St James’ Park, and one imagines he will only be even more prolific with a better team around him.
