Liverpool’s teenage sensation Rio Ngumoha has boldly declared his ambition to win the Ballon d’Or – a feat that even Steven Gerrard never achieved.
The 16-year-old, who joined the Reds from Chelsea’s academy last summer, has quickly made a name for himself as one of the club’s most exciting young prospects.
Ngumoha made history in January by becoming the youngest player ever to start a first-team game for Liverpool, featuring in an FA Cup win over Accrington Stanley.
Despite his age, the winger carries huge confidence and lofty goals.
Speaking during an episode of Inside The Academy, Ngumoha said, “I truly believe I can win the Ballon d’Or one day. I want to be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play.”
While Gerrard remains a Liverpool icon, even he never claimed football’s top individual prize.
If the youngster does eventually realise his dream, he’d be the first Liverpool player to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001.
